Borussia Dortmund v Arsenal

November 5th, 2013

Last year’s Champions League runners-up, Borussia Dortmund, take on Arsenal on Wednesday night at the Signal Iduna Park stadium in Germany and the game is live on Sky Sports 1 from 7.45pm.

Dortmund, who beat Arsenal two weeks ago at the Emirates 2-1, are 8/11 with Coral and Paddy Power to do the double over the Premier League leaders, with the Gunners are available at 4/1 and the draw at 16/5 - both with Bet365.

Arsenal are unbeaten in Germany in their last four Champions League games having played out two wins and two draws and their style of play tends to suit games where teams come on to them. The same can be said of Dortmund and it may well pay to be with Arsenal on this occasion at the prices. The suggested bet is to back them in the 'Draw No Bet' market at best odds of 3/1 with Bet365, although some may be tempted by Bet365’s 6/5 on the 'Double Chance' of Arsenal and the Draw.

Both sides are attack minded and a high scoring game is envisaged. The home team have only kept one clean sheet in their last seven games in this competition, while Arsenal have scored at least once in their last eight games on German soil. Backing 'over 2.5 goals' at 4/7 with Stan James is therefore highly recommended.

As far as first goal scorers are concerned, it may be worth following the strikers in form from each side. There are two Gunners players who just can’t stop scoring - Olivier Giroud has 8 goals this season and has netted 3 Champions League in his last 4 games. He should be backed at 8/1 with Bet365 to score first. Aaron Ramsey meanwhile has scored 10 goals this season and is the Gunners leading marksman this term, he certainly looks too big at 14/1 with Bet365 to score first, a price that is worth backing each-way - Bet365 pay 1/3 the odds for the 'place' in this market, if your player scores at any time.

Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski has scored 11 Champions League goals in his last 12 games in the competition, including 3 in 3 already this season - he is also worth siding with in the First Goalscorer market at the general 7/2.
