Sky Bet offer offer a variety of racing concessions and particularly impressive is their unique range of 'Hard Luck Bonuses' - great news if your horse refuses to start, breaks down injured, or various other hard luck stories. They will refund your original stake if:
- Your horse refuses to race under orders
- Your horse slips up
- Your horse breaks down injured
- Your horse runs out
- Your horses jockey weighs in at incorrect weight
- Your jockey falls off in a flat race
They will also pay out in full on both winners in a dead heat for all UK and Irish races.
Sky Bet also offer 'Best odds Guaranteed', which means that if you take a price on a horse and the SP returned after the race is bigger than the price you took, then your bet will be settled on the bigger SP price if your horse wins or is placed.
In addition, racing customers get bigger returns on forecasts and tricasts as Sky Bet boost the returns on correct forecasts by 10% and tricasts by 15% for all UK and Ireland races. These increased returns are automatically added to your winnings after the race.
Football customers also get 'fairplay concessions' with Sky Bet which they regularly offer when there's been a dubious own goal or dodgy refeeing decision. This way, if they think you've been hard done by, your bet could still be a winner.
Sky Bet Bookmakers
Being the sports betting branch of BSkyB inevitably gives Sky Bet marketing advanges over other bookmakers and recent high-profile advertising campaigns on Sky TV have led to signifcant increases in their active sports betting customers. They also havea dedicated TV channel on Sky channel 864, although they don't operate traditional high street shops.
In adition to advertising, there are regular references to Sky Bet odds on Sky Sports News from presenters such as their horse racing expert Alex Hammond who presents a daily racing round-up. There are also regular appearances from Sky Bet spokesmen such as Dale Tempest who gives weekly sporting and betting previews.
Sky Bet also work with former Liverpool, Tottenham and England footballer and Sky Sports football pundit Jamie Redknapp who acts as an ambassador, passing on his knowledge of football and offering exclusive betting advice to Sky Bet customers.
Based in Leeds, Sky Bet was launched in July 2002, a re-brand of Surrey Sports which was purchased by BSkyB two years earlier. In December 2006 established online betting companies totalbet and ukbetting were consolidated into Sky Bet after BSkyB's purchase of the 365 Media Group. Sky Bet thus features heavily in both advertising and shared content on the former 365 Media Group websites such as Sportinglife, Football365, Teamtalk and Sportal - which have millions of users every month - as well as on skysports.com.
"It matters more when there's money on it" is the slogan used on much of Sky Bet's marketing and their commercials also focus upon their own passion for the delightful uncertainty of sport: "nothing's certain - that's why it's exciting".
Sky Bet regularly sponsor horse races, with their showpiece event the Skybet Chase (formerly known as the Great Yorkshire Chase) which takes place at Doncaster racecourse at the end of January each year and is often used as a trial by trainers for horses being aimed at certain Cheltenham Festival races or even the Grand National. They are also sponsors of the Sky Bet York Stakes and Sky Bet Dash, two of the major Flat horse races in the racing calendar, which take place at the Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival at York Racecourse in July.
In 2011 they took over sponsorship of the Sky Bet World Matchplay darts championship which takes place each July at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, having previously sponsored the World Grand Prix (2004-2007).
Sky Bet Website
The Sky Bet website (www.skybet.com) was relaunched in 2010, including a slick betting process where, when you make a selection in any market, a betting slip instantly appears at the bottom of the page with your choice, a box to add your stake and a button to bet.
When you register you are asked to select a username and 4 digit pin number (which acts as a password). The site itself is easy to navigate - users are able to drill down to find and place bets quickly via a left-hand-side 'A-Z Sports' menu with sports listed alphabetically - although there are quick links at the top of the menu to the most popular markets.
Below this sports menu is an 'Extra's' menu with links to various useful features, including to the 'Sky Bet Video' page where there are various video previews of upcoming football games presented by Ed Draper and often featuring Jamie Redknapp. This page also hosts various Sky Sports News clips that include betting news or opinion.
Other 'Extra's' include a Sky Sports News Radio interface where you can listen to all the latest sports news and audio previews, plus help video's and a link to the Skybet twitter feed (@skybet). Of course, there is also a Skybet Facebook group you can 'like'.
The top of the homepage features latest promotions and special offers, followed by live betting links for any events taking place at the time. When these live events are being shown on Sky Sports you can also click to watch them on the Sky Bet site if you have a Sky Sports subscription - all you need is to enter your Sky ID username and password and you can bet and watch sports wherever you are.
Their homepage also has a top menu with quick links to deposit, withdrawal, your account and one directly to unsettled bets. At the bottom there is a betting calculator, useful for working out your potential returns on different types of accumulator bets.
The Sky Bet horse racing interface is particularly impressive with quick links to the entire day's racing - or tomorrow's when the day's racing is over. Their racecards start with a race overview followed by jockey silk colours, recent horse form and weight for the race, alongside the odds. On each racecard there's also a 'statistics' link to further data from Sportinglife including ratings and horse / jockey / trainer form, as well as a horse racing results service.
At the bottom of the horse racing page there is a live audio commentary link, which allows customers to listen to the day's horse and greyhound racing. Additionally, they offer an online 'Bet and Watch' service - a £1 stake on any race at Sky Bet enables you to watch that race live on your PC, via either Racing UK or At The Races - depending on which is showing the race.
Finally, a novel and quirky link at the very top of every page is their "Boss?! Look busy!!!" link which will instantly turn the Sky Bet page to a spreadsheet with various graphs and figures - in case a cheeky punt at work is frowned upon!
Sky Bet Mobile App
The Sky Bet App is available in the App Store on iTunes and all Sky Bet markets are also available via www.skybet.mobi on Android devices and just about any other hand-held device with web access. Create an account online and you can then log-in on the mobile with the same username and password.
The Sky Bet mobile interface is extremely easy to use and intuitive with the home page displaying quick links to football, horse-racing and tennis markets, plus an A-Z icon for all sports. There are also tabs for popular markets ('Highlights'), the Next 3 Races and Live Betting. Every event selected displays a full list of markets available and when users click their bet choice a bet slip appears with the selection, a stake box and 'place bet' button.
Mobile users also have access to their full Sky Bet account history, plus the option to deposit and withdraw.
Customers in the UK with an iPhone or iPad can stream live horse races via the Sky Bet 'Bet to View' service. To access the service, customers simply need to visit skybet.com, log-in to their Sky Bet account and place a qualifying bet of at least £1 on the race. The optimised streams for iPhone and iPad provide crystal clear live coverage from all of the Racing UK tracks, for 4,000+ races each year.
Sky Super 6
Sky's Super 6 competition is extremely popular and free to enter. Players simply need to predict six correct scores from Sky's six selected Saturday matches and the closest entry wins a weekly prize of £5,000. There's also the chance to win £100,000 if you predit all six correct and whilst that seems hard, two players managed it last season and there are plenty who go close with five correct predictions out of six.
If a Super 6 player wins the weekly £5,000 prize by scoring 5 points they'll also win the 'Get 5 bonus'. Starting at £1,000 the bonus increases by £500 each week it is not won.
Sky Bet customers don't need to register to play Super 6, they can simply use their Sky Bet User ID and PIN to log in and start predicting. All matches start each week at 3pm every Saturday so entries need to be in by this time. Visit: super6.skysports.com/home to play - it takes less than a minute to enter your 6 scores each week.
In addition to the correct score predictions, players also need to make a prediction for the 'Golden Goal', which is used as a tie-breaker to determine finishing positions when two or more people have the same number of points in a Super 6 game. The person who is closest to the actual time of the first goal scored in any of the six matches featured in a Super 6 game wins.
Once you've completed your entry the game also displays the true odds of each of your correct score predictions on Sky Bet, plus the 'match accumulator' odds for all six results.
Sky Bet customers can play Sky Vegas with their Sky Bet username and pin and their welcome bonus is £20 completely free, a 100% first deposit bonus and a 50% second deposit bonus.
Like Sky Bet, Sky Vegas will be familiar to viewers of Sky Sports channels where there are regular adverts promoting their large range of casino games, including some unusual versions of conventional games such as Double Bonus Spin Roulette and Hot Streak Bonus Blackjack and Roulette games.
Our favourite is the Sky Millions Jackpot slot game which offers a huge progressive jackpot that keep increasing until someone wins via the bonus feature (triggered when 3 scatter Gold Bar symbols appear anywhere on reels 1, 3 or 5, regardless of how many lines you have played). The jackpot is awarded when you reach the centre of the wheels.

Both freerolls will start at 7pm.
As you play at Sky Poker you'll earn poker points and you can check your balance at any time by logging-in and going to 'My Account'. Underneath 'Free Stuff' you will see the link 'View Poker Points' - click here and you can perform a poker points search for your first 30 days. These points also allow you to earn cash for every point you earn over 500 points in each calendar month, which is paid on the 5th business day of the month.
